Garden of Life #1

As a first-time "blogger" I thought long and hard about a "positive" theme for my postings on this wonderful website. As I did so, the old "stop and smell the roses" line popped into my mind. We have so many people and things and experiences in our lives we take for granted or overlook completely. So what I plan to do is explore my own Garden of Life to discover what I appreciate and then, share my findings with you. Hopefully, by doing this, you'll slow down a bit to find the small blessings in your own life.

For example, as I look out my kitchen window I see a Ligustrum bush covered with budding white blooms. . .and a gazillion bees! My first reaction is "Danger, Danger, Will Robinson!" But as I watch these tiny, incredibly industrious creatures from my "safe" vantage point I begin to marvel at their many contributions to the chain of life. As if that weren't amazing enough, when I look closer I see colorful butterflies flitting among the fragrant blooms as well. And within the bush is a mockingbird busily attending to her babies.

So there you go. . .

Until next time. . .remember the roses!

  2. Truly an inspiration, thank you for reminding me to stop and smell the roses or just take a few minutes from a hurried day to breath and relax. Great post Marie:}

  3. I too marveled about life while looking out the window to my garden. I was blessed by seeing 2 lazuli buntings and could not believe my luck when 4 Western Tanagers were sitting in a nearby tree a few minutes later.
